Really nice hotel to be fair. Staff is super friendly, parking is tight for most people but cheap. I didn’t have a problem stepping out to go on a stroll at night honestly. Rooms are nice but could be slightly renovated a slight bit. Otherwise there was no problem with my stay, I would definitely recommend for a nice 3 star budget hotel. This is a terrible hotel in a terrible part of town. Do not be fooled by the pictures and take two minutes to look up a crime map of Hartford, you will find that this hotel is in one of the worst parts of town. Avoid if you have other options; if you don’t have other options, get inside and stay there until you have to leave, I wouldn’t even consider going out for a stroll. Expect to come across multiple homeless people within minutes and expect to not see a single police officer during your stay there. It seems like the city decided to go with “if a tree falls in the forest, but there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?”My double room smelled like a combination of cigarettes, marijuana, and dingy old curtains. The walls and floors/ceilings are paper thin-you will hear everything! Nothing like someone in the room next door dropping something at 11pm and waking you up. Bathroom ventilation is terrible and possibly allows for a backdraft allowing smells from other rooms to come in. The AC sounded like a water feature-I wonder what sort of fungus grows in there. The only possible positive are the friendly people at the front desk and that the room appeared clean, but given all the other negatives I wonder what I’m missing/didn’t notice.The breakfast was edible, although salty. Our schedule was packed and we used the room to sleep and conduct some virtual work meetings.Staff: The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast and service is decent and the personnel in charge makes sure that breakfast items are stocked.Room: The rooms are a bit old and dated. The hallways have a moldy, wet smell that never went away during our stay. During our stay of THREE days, our room was never cleaned. When we approached the personnel in charge on our floor about this, she was dismissive. Although the front desk did send someone to unclog the shower drain, the issue was never fixed. Basically, we took a shower while standing in a bath during our entire stay.Sound isolation is not great. You hear your neighbor both adjacent and across the hall from you.Parking: There is paid underground parking, however, it is not too orderly. When spots fill up, people park anywhere in non-designated parking spaces. Overall, it’s what you’d expect from a “2 star” budget hotel. I found everything to be clean. The elevators are actually very quick. The room (704) was basically quiet. A few picky details- the a/c in the room is not in the quieter side and there was “residue” in the vents. Also, the blackout curtains were so-so. Upon arrival, there was a smoke alarm chirping for a new battery. We told the front desk and they resolved it quickly. The complimentary breakfast was decent (make your own Belgian waffles!) Room had two complimentary bottles of water and a refrigerator. Check in was relatively quick and check out was just dropping off room cards and giving the room number. The bed was firm but comfortable. If you just need something basic, this definitely will do. Oh- if you request a room with a view, you get a very nice view of the Capitol Building across the park. The service we received from Jay (I hope I'm spelling her name right) was EXTRAORDINARY. She heard us commenting on the painting of the building next to the front desk and said it was the capitol building. Since we were intrigued she gave us a room with a great view of it!On top of that she ran up extra towels and pillows to us. She was extremely polite, attentive, and all-around helpful.Look, yeah, the room is a bit small and somewhat dated. The toilet in our bathroom was off-center and way too close to the door. There's no vent fan for the bathroom which was disappointing as well.That said, for $114 it was clean. No bed bugs or anything else like that. Seemed like an extremely reasonable price and a great location so, given that, I rate this 4 stars. I probably would have rated it 3 stars but after the service we received from Jay it's an easy 4-star review. She heard us commenting on the painting of the building next to the front desk and said it was the capitol building. She was extremely polite, attentive, and all-around helpful.Look, yeah, the room is a bit small and somewhat dated. The toilet in our bathroom was off-center and way too close to the door. There's no vent fan for the bathroom which was disappointing as well.That said, for $114 it was clean. No bed bugs or anything else like that. Seemed like an extremely reasonable price and a great location so, given that, I rate this 4 stars. I probably would have rated it 3 stars but after the service we received from Jay it's an easy 4-star review. Overall, it’s what you’d expect from a “2 star” budget hotel. I found everything to be clean. The elevators are actually very quick. The room (704) was basically quiet. A few picky details- the a/c in the room is not in the quieter side and there was “residue” in the vents. Also, the blackout curtains were so-so. Upon arrival, there was a smoke alarm chirping for a new battery. We told the front desk and they resolved it quickly. The complimentary breakfast was decent (make your own Belgian waffles!) Room had two complimentary bottles of water and a refrigerator. Check in was relatively quick and check out was just dropping off room cards and giving the room number. The bed was firm but comfortable. If you just need something basic, this definitely will do. Oh- if you request a room with a view, you get a very nice view of the Capitol Building across the park.

Horrible check in process, they didn't have rooms available at 3.30pm even though check in starts at 3pm. Did not feel safe there, very sketchy.

Decent for the price. Booked first night on Priceline and they were able to match that price when I extended my stay. Staff was very friendly And the view was great. Room didn’t have many towels and blanket was stained. As for breakfast I have mixed feelings. It was better than nothing but I feel like they should get back to regular breakfast as COVID is winding down.

Please AVOID this hotel. We made a reservation days ahead of time with a credit card and the day of the reservation, while we're on our way to Hartford, a woman named Jessica (she called from a phone that ends in 297) called me directly saying that there was an issue with the hotel facilities and that they had to move our reservation to a nearby hotel (whose name I will reserve) and after speaking about the kind of room we would get at the other hotel and the price, she agrees to send me the confirmation details for this other hotel at my phone number.Three hours after, she hadn't contacted me as agreed so I called her thrice and she didn't pick up the phone. We went to the hotel we originally made the reservation at (this one) because she didn't answer her phone and the man at the desk tells me that there is no reservation for us but that we can go to a hotel that's 15 min away from where we were at. That hotel was different from the one Jessica had told me (and farther away), and given that it was after 10 pm and rainy, I told him we would not go there. He calls the hotel that Jessica told me about and they tell him that there's no reservation for us there either. So basically, we're in a city we've never been in before, while it's dark and rainy outside, and with no place to stay in, when we had already made a reservation days ahead with a credit card for this hotel.The funny thing is that not even the front desk worker could get a hold of Jessica. How unprofessional. What ended up happening is that the employees at the front desk contacted their manager and after more than one hour of waiting they gave us a room at a discounted price. Still, the price difference isn't worth the headache.One last thing; this is not the fault of the front desk staff. This is obviously the fault of the higher ups. I overheard the employees saying that what really happened is that they sold our room before we got there. Meaning that our reservation with a credit card at this place was useless.Please, if you value your peace of mind, pay a little extra to stay at another hotel in the area. The hassle-free check-in process (which I'm honestly used to after having traveled so much) will be worth it.

I had mixed feelings about this place when looking at a one night stay. Was very disappointed with room. Not clean at all, carpet was definitely not vacuumed, we only got one towel, no blanket only flat sheet. The biggest NO NO; people smoke, hallway on 7th floor stank of mildew, weed and cigarettes. The whole place is in need of a good cleaning or better yet updating! Front desk were attentive. Location is amazing, we enjoyed our walk in the park. Our view was ok. Room had fridge and microwave.

Front Desk always went out of their way to be helpful. WONDERFUL. This hotel is 2 blocks from Union Station (trains), and 1 block away from the bus that takes you to Bradley (Hartford) Airport (bus stop on street behind Union Station). Love the view of the capitol/capitol grounds that is right across the street from hotel!!

This place is not what it advertises. The only bonus is that it's conveniently located by the train and bus. The staff are friendly... and that's really it. Here's what I observed: 1. The lobby looks nice and fairly modern. The room is outdated. Half the floor is dirty carpet. I had to ask for it to be vacuumed. The sheet had old stains... like grease or something on them. Had to request new sheets. My towel had hair in it... and small old stain. Had to request new towels. The curtains were dingy and had a cigarette hole in them. The AC was old style and the vent was broken. Thus I could see all the dust in it. Thank goodness I had cleaning wipes. My sister and I who shared the room wiped EVERYTHING down. The remote control for the TV was even dirty. Oh, and no smart TV. The TV was regular basic cable... kind of crazy for this day and age. The soap, poor quality. The light by the entrance of our room did not work. They do offer a to go breakfast... light... you can skip that and walk somewhere locally. In short, if you need a place to crash and you end up here, you'll live but if you are looking for comfort, higher quality, better standards, stay somewhere else.

I felt for a the location the cost was reasonable. When we arrived we noticed a lot of traffic and as a matter of fact ran into our next room over visitor, who informed us that she and her boyfriend had been staying there for a month with her dog. As we walked to settle in we saw many of the same people moving from different floors, socializing with each other, this gave us the impression that this was actually more of a drug hotel than anything. When we entered our room there was no comforter on the bed just a white sheet. The front desk gave us a fleece throw to put on the bed. our next door neighbor's previously mentioned were in and out of their room all night opening and closing the door. They did provide a reasonable breakfast. I suppose I would stay here again if I could get a reasonable rate. But it was nothing to write home about, the shades were very dirty, the walls were not in the best shape, and the rug on the floor did look more than worn out. The staff was friendly and helpful.

First walk in, dirty towel from maid, then looked over at the bed no bedspread, the front desk guy was GREAT! For over 100 bucks should have accommodated a little better. View is gorgeous, in great walking distance to everything the good out weights the bad. Pleasure staying, we will stay again. Stay safe.

In my opinion this hotel is a great place to stay. The manager Scott is such a great person makes your stay even better. I definitely would tell anyone to stay here.

One of the best values in downtown Hartford. What it lacks in a lavish lobby (and there's no bar), it makes up for with an exceptionally friendly and personable staff, spacious and nicely updated rooms, and a comfortable bed. Parking is indoor, secure, and only $10 per day. The gym is very small and there is no pool. Breakfast was bacon, eggs, waffles, etc. and was very good.

Clean, ok spacious 1 queen bedroom for 2, it has a really good view of capitol building from some of the rooms. Free breakfast is available in the morning from 6:30- 9 however they still provide the food 30 min after 9 incase u are a a bit late for it. It has paid parking: 17$ appx per day. Water bottles are also paid for general guests however paid membership has some perks(check their website).

Stayed at the Red Roof because the location was great, in comparison to being in downtown and near transportation (the bus station was right across the street). This hotel had friendly staff(two stars for that) and had a good continental breakfast. Now, the room is a completely different story. I noticed that the double beds had stains and the sheets were not cleaned. Pillow cases were also badly stained up. The room had a great view, but workers should make sure the room is clean before checking it out to customers. Only have one photo but the stains were consistent throughout the sheets.

Let's start with, the hotel was transitioning into The Capitol Hotel. So, it's a bit difficult to give an accurate review of either hotel since it was literally under construction. Here goes anyway, they are now offering a full hot breakfast, eggs, sausage, hash browns, plus the continental they were already serving. It's just alright. They converted a conference room on the second floor with a great view of the capital to accommodate breakfast, which was nice. Small work out room with 3 exercise machines. Even though they seemed a bit under staffed, check in and check out were no problem. The room was small, they only had two full sized beds available which were not very comfortable. Bathroom was small but clean. House keepers were interesting. Front desk workers were also interesting, not friendly, but, efficient. Overall 3.5 stars because the beds were not comfortable at all.

Friendly staff, nice rooms, very nice view of the capitol. There was a hair on my bedsheet on check in, but that's the only minor thing I noticed. Air conditioning works well, water pressure is pretty good, and the room is nicely sized. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for work trip. Price was good, aside from the parking fee. Clean. Comfy bed. Friendly/helpful staff. Close to freeway. Definitely would stay again or recommend!

For me the first thing I look at is the bathroom. And beds. They looked clean enough and the room was bright with light from outside. My son was comfortable and that made me happy

Decent place downtown, parking costs $17/night. Rooms are older, closet isn't enclosed. Fantastic view of the capitol building!

Está bien ubicado. Se encuentra muy cerca de la estación de tren, por lo que es un buen hotel de paso. Sin embargo, la atención es deficiente y el desayuno es bastante pobre.

Stayed here for 5 nights around Sept end and was pleasantly surprised. It is a great hotel for the price they charge and is an absolute value for money property. Loved the views facing the Capitol and is a 2 min walk to Downtown Hartford.The rooms are decently sized and have a great bed! The only problem we had was that the breakfast spread is way too thin and no hot items. Wish they could improve that, otherwise a good hotel! Will definitely stay again when we visit Hartford next.
