The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort
The iconic "Pink Palace of the Pacific" right on its own private beach with a lavish pool complex spa and luaus the Royal Hawaiian a Luxury Collection Resort Waikiki is a Honolulu landmark. Built in 1927 on a prime stretch of Waikiki Beach where Queen Ka'ahumanu had her summer palace Royal Hawaiian has 528 luxury rooms and suites divided between the flamingo-pink Spanish-Moorish original building bordered by a lush garden with a majestic banyan tree and a newer 17-story Royal Beach Tower. Rooms are decorated in a tropical theme and include plush beds mini-fridges iPod docking stations and flat-panel TVs with premium cable. Rooms have views of the garden royal grove or ocean and some rooms have lanais. Wi-Fi is available for a charge. The hotel has a multi-pool complex with 70-foot water slide hot tubs weekly luaus luxury day spa lei-making classes and a beachfront restaurant and famous bar where the Mai Tai was said to have been invented. Parking is included in the resort fee. The Royal Hawaiian is nestled right on a private stretch of Waikiki Beach next to the Royal Hawaiian Center for indoor shopping and across the street from the International Market Place. Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is eight miles southeast.

“Loving our stay in Honolulu! This hotel is rich in culture, history, and hospitality. We chose to stay here for our honeymoon and are so glad we did! The hotel offers daily activities that are fun for singles, couples and families. Beachfront location is ideal. Though not a quiet beach, the hotel gives access to beach chairs for guests (for a price - worth it!). We opted for a half day at the beach, and paid half price for the umbrella and lounge chairs. The dining options are wonderful. We ate at Azure on our first night, and it did not disappoint. Each course was well-curated, and gave us an authentic experience. The hotels local is also ideal for shopping. Boutique shoes, high end designers, and numerous dining options are just a one minute walk away. Highly recommend The Royal Hawaiian to anyone visiting Honolulu!”

“This is an amazing historic hotel walking distance to the beach and all the restaurants and shopping in the heart of Waikiki. The rooms are on the small side - common to a 120+ year old hotel, but everything is top notch quality. I recommend reserving the luau and beach chairs before you arrive as they are sold out weeks in advance due to the location - but if you miss, you can go early to reserve other beach chairs and the concierge will find you another local luau option. Food and drinks are amazing and the Mai Tai bar has great local music many nights during the week - a great place to relax at the end of the day. Keep in mind that this is Waikiki so the beach will be much busier than those in the North Shore or other islands, and this is a historic hotel - so if you prefer shiny and new v. historic ambiance, try the Sheraton next door. But we will definitely be returning to The Royal Hawaiian!”
